the location was super central which made it easy for my mother in law n her friend to check out all the xmas market stuff without gettin overwhelmed. the room they had was comfy with nice furnitures and quality stuff. also, the staff was really responsive when i asked a bunch of questions before they got there. they even set up a ground floor room for them, no stairs yay!
the only thing was that the access to the hotel was kinda weird and made them feel a bit uncomfortable at first.

Charming, Charming, Charming
I loved the unique historical charm of my room, especially with the original safe from the old judge’s lodging! The luxurious four-poster bed made me feel like royalty, and the complimentary cocktail upon arrival was such a delightful surprise. It’s the perfect cozy retreat right in the heart of the action.
do recommend 😍✨

The classic double room exceeded my expectations with its lovely decor and spacious layout. The staff's attentiveness in storing our bags helped us explore more without worry.
The check-in process took longer than anticipated.

Had an amazing stay with friends. Great location close to shops and restaurants. We visited a fabulous museum and an old pub! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Just a heads-up, no breakfast service, but plenty nearby. a lovely spot for a group getaway.
The steep stairs can be tricky with luggage. Be cautious if you have heavy bags!

The room had lovely original character but poor lighting made it difficult to see.

missingWrote a review on 12 Octgluten-free optionsfriendly staffunique characterpoor ventilation
During my stay, I was blown away by the culinary adventures just a stone's throw away, particularly at Bill's York, which served some delightful gluten-free options! I also loved the staff's charm and the unique character of the hotel. The room had this lovely flow of fresh air, perfect for those summer days in York.
It lacked the charm shown in pictures, and the ventilation didn’t help with the stuffiness. Advanced warning about the ongoing work would’ve been fair, given the hefty price.

We had a lovely stay with our newborn, and the location was perfect for exploring York! The quirky decor really added to the experience, and the staff were incredibly accommodating, even offering us advice on family-friendly places to visit nearby.
In my wife’s opinion, it would have been great if the hotel provided more baby facilities.

The location is fantastic, just a stroll away from many attractions. Friendly staff made us feel welcomed, though the room was a bit tired and noisy, with a shower cramped under the stairs. it’s a charming spot with character, but it could use some improvements.

Perfect spot in the heart of York
The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of town. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, even upgraded our room for a birthday celebration. Comfy beds but it got a bit hot at night. Breakfast delivered to the room is a nice touch too!

The Luxury King Room was spacious and beautifully decorated, featuring a four-poster bed and a delightful mural that added character. Located in the heart of the city, it provided easy access to local attractions while ensuring a serene stay away from street noise. The complimentary sweet snacks and drinks were a charming touch, making the experience even more enjoyable. there were no dining facilities on site, which was a minor drawback. it's a lovely choice for couples looking for a memorable getaway.
